This sampler is the same as the one I designed for the mourning sampler for victims of September 11th. These were the original colors I wanted but I couldn't find gold linen. They reminded me of the "Purple Mountains Magesty" and the "Waving fields of Grain."
When President Reagan died, I decided to follow in the sampler tradition of mourning past presidents. I finally found some gold linen and I worked on the sampler during the week of events which celebrated our homage to this great President. The ceremonies were so moving I have to admit that there are quite a few tears on the cloth.
